IO Operations

IO Operations, or input/output operations, are operations involve reading or writing data from and to external sources, such as files, databases, or network sockets. For example, when a user uploads a file to a web application, the process of storing that file on the server's disk involves IO operations.

In Node.js, a common example of IO operations is reading data from a file using the fs module. Here's a simple example:

const fs = require('fs');

fs.readFile('example.txt', 'utf8', (err, data) => {
  if (err) throw err;
  console.log(data);
});

In this example, the fs.readFile function is an IO operation that reads the contents of the 'example.txt' file from the disk.

Understanding and optimizing IO operations is crucial for improving the performance and efficiency of software applications. Excessive or inefficient IO operations can lead to bottlenecks and slow response times. By utilizing asynchronous IO operations and caching, you can mitigate the impact of IO operations on overall system performance.
