Blob storage is a type of storage that enables you to store large amounts of unstructured data, such as images, videos, and telemetry data. It's commonly used for long-term retention and archival purposes, as it provides a cost-effective way to store large amounts of data. Each blob can typically be accessed directly via a unique URL.

For example, if you have a web application that lets users to upload images, you can use blob storage to store these images. Each image will be stored as a separate blob, and you can retrieve and display these images in your application by using the unique URL of each blob.
